Two people were injured in a shooting Thursday night at a high school graduation ceremony in Oakland, California.
Oakland Police Lt. Robert Trevino said police responded to Skyline High School around 7:45 p.m. local time following reports of a shooting during graduation.
When police arrived at the school, they found two victims – a man and a woman – suffering from gunshot wounds. Trevino did not disclose their ages but said both victims were adults.
He said they were all taken to hospital by ambulance and were reported to be in stable condition as of late Thursday night.

The California Highway Patrol also responded to the school, assisting Oakland police with searching the building and maintaining a perimeter.
Trevino said at a news conference hours after the shooting that the school decided to restore “security” later that night.
“Our officers are very professional, so we’re well-trained in critical incidents, so we were able to get everyone out safely. No one was injured because there were multiple people trying to leave at the same time,” Trevino said of the police response.

Trevino said that while the investigation into the shooting was preliminary, authorities were looking into reports of “some kind of dispute” that led to the shooting.
He wasn’t sure exactly how many shots were fired during the incident, but said there were multiple guns.
Trevino said police believe multiple suspects were involved in the shooting and are “trying to figure out how many.” As of late Thursday night, there was no description of the suspect or potential vehicle.
