Actor Jonathan Tucker helped rescue a neighbor’s family who were trying to break into their home in Hancock Park on Sunday night, The Times has confirmed.
A representative from the Los Angeles Police Department said Tuesday that the suspect entered the residence but fled. Police responding to a “hot raid” alert arrested a man in his 30s. The man was taken into custody without incident.
Tucker’s rep confirmed the Westworld actor’s involvement but said the actor was not “part of the interview.”
Police told Los Angeles Magazine that Tucker noticed a knock on the door nearby around 6:20 p.m. and called 911.
Soon after, the 42-year-old City on a Hill veteran sprang into action when he saw his neighbor’s front door open. In the video obtained by KTLA, screams can be heard coming from inside after the suspect enters but before Tucker arrives. The actor, barefoot and carrying a bag he said was filled with protective gear, followed the homeowner into the home.
Tucker carried a young girl out of the home and reportedly handed her over to his wife, Tara. He then went back inside and found the girl’s mother and a baby, both of whom appeared to be in pain.
KTLA said the Los Angeles Police Department was on scene within minutes of Tucker receiving the call.
The homeowner, who declined to be identified on camera, expressed gratitude for Tucker’s response. “He took action,” the homeowner told the station.
He called the incident a “painful experience.” The homeowner said no damage was done.
Tucker, who played Jay Culina for three seasons on the TV series “Kingdom,” declined to speak on camera, but can be heard off-camera in a KTLA video loudly thanking the responding officers, sparking the scene A round of applause from the audience.
“If you want a quote, call the LAPD because those guys are the real heroes. They put their lives on the line many times a day,” he told Los Angeles Magazine. “They got back to me within minutes while I was still on the phone with the 911 dispatcher. It was an extraordinary response.
