A Time reporter who interviewed President Biden last week confirmed that he is as old as he appears on screen.
Asked about Biden’s appearance, Time’s Washington bureau chief Massimo Calabresi told CNN host Jake Tapper: “I mean, his appearance is consistent with his appearance. It’s very similar on television. “He’s older than he was when he came in. If you look at the tapes side by side, you can see that. The transcript is a good place for people to assess that. He — we’ll cover that in the article. It’s described as um there’s some colorful description of how he got there.
On May 28, Biden spoke to Time magazine at the White House for a lengthy interview published on Tuesday. At one point, Biden was asked if he could still hold the position “as an 85-year-old man” who many Americans would consider “too old to lead” if he won a second term. .
“I can do it better than anyone you know. You watch me and I can lead you,” Biden told Time reporters who interviewed him, including Calabresi and editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs Booth.
Media, Democrats insist Biden is ‘mentally sharp’ after ‘poor memory’ in special counsel investigation
Questions about Biden’s age have grown among Democrats, media and comedians since the release of the “Hool Report”
In an earlier interview, Tapper joked about the comment before asking Calabresi: “When this issue comes up, do you sense that, according to polls, a majority of the American people, including Democrats, take it seriously?” He worries about his age.
“Yeah, he didn’t stop when we asked him about it,” the Time reporter responded. “He came back very quickly. I think, in a way, that was probably a set answer. I didn’t get the sense that it bothered him.”
Interview transcripts released by Time magazine repeatedly show that Biden’s answers were recorded as “unintelligible.”
He also appeared to confuse Chinese President Xi Jinping with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Mr. President, won’t your newly announced tariffs raise prices for American consumers?” the interviewer asked Biden at the time.
“No, because that’s the deal. There’s a difference,” Biden responded. “I’ve made it clear to Putin from the beginning – I’m not, we’re not going to participate… For example, Trump wants to impose a 10% tariff on all goods. That will increase the price of all goods in the United States.”
An “Editor’s Note” said, “Biden seems to be referring to Xi Jinping here, not Putin.”
Biden also said in the interview that multiple world leaders have told him that he cannot allow Republican candidate Trump to win in 2024.
“I’ve never been to any major international meeting before it was over, and I’ve been to more meetings than most presidents have been to in three and a half years, where world leaders weren’t going to pull me away when I left. Step aside and say, “He can’t win.”
