President Joe Biden is ramping up his traditional efforts to win a second term, but his campaign is also adopting guerrilla tactics against Donald Trump.

Political coverage:
The campaign began regularly referring to the former president by a new title, “convicted felon,” including on billboards outside a recent Trump event and in social media posts. Biden himself used the description at a fundraiser, and the president often road-tests new messages before a campaign event.
“The sky is blue and Donald Trump is a convicted felon,” the senior campaign official said. “We’re not going to shy away from reality.”
The campaign is also experimenting with so-called “guerrilla-style” campaigning, such as De Niro’s appearance at a Manhattan courthouse. Campaign officials called it “a good template for what we hope to do more of in the coming weeks,” but declined to provide further details.
No other candidate among Trump’s rivals in either party has come to mind like Joe Biden. These guerrilla tactics, which the Biden campaign is already using, are a way to unsettle Trump. The former president spent days ranting against Robert De Niro after he showed up outside a Manhattan courthouse.
Biden has a larger campaign and more resources than Trump. The President and Vice President are able to use multiple tactics in multiple locations at the same time.
Meanwhile, the smaller Trump campaign appears to be counting on the candidate alone to draw crowds and generate attention. Trump’s strategy appears to be to paint as negative a picture as possible and then hope voters are angry enough to send him back to the White House.
President Biden is using a variety of tactics to expose and overpower Donald Trump.
