Trump, a convicted felon, is the first presumptive presidential candidate to have to interview with a probation officer.
NBC News provided the interview in color:

According to two people familiar with the situation, the probation interview before sentencing will be conducted through a special virtual network with increased security measures, and the interviewer will be a woman. The calls are not expected to be held via Zoom, these sources added.

Horn said Trump may also be asked if he has interacted with anyone with a criminal record, since he cannot associate with them if he is on probation. The probation officer may also want to interview other people in Trump’s family later. Although officers typically complete interviews in one meeting, follow-up interviews may be conducted. The probation officer will then write a report and give it to the Merchan.
Thanks to Trump, many people close to the former president have criminal records. If Trump violated probation because his inner circle is filled with criminals, that would probably be the funniest thing. Trump showed no remorse.

The importance of this moment cannot be ignored. The Republican presidential candidate is being interviewed by probation officers because he has been convicted of 34 felonies. Trump’s meeting with his probation officer cannot be treated as politics as usual.
None of this is normal, and voters should be reminded at every opportunity that Joe Biden is the major party choice without a felony in the 2024 election.
