KIEV (Reuters) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Sunday that the final communiqué of a summit of world leaders seeking peace in Ukraine’s war with Russia had taken Kyiv’s position into account.
More than 90 countries took part in the two-day event at the Bürgenstock resort in central Switzerland aimed at rallying global opinion on how to end Moscow’s 27-month invasion.
“The text is balanced and all principled positions that Ukraine adheres to have been taken into account,” he told reporters. The summit’s final communiqué has not yet been officially released.
Kuleba also hinted at Russia’s possible participation in future summits but dismissed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s demands on Friday for Kiev to cede four Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine and abandon its goal of joining NATO.
“Of course, we … fully understand that one day it will be necessary to have a dialogue with Russia,” he said. “But our position is very clear: We will not allow Russia to issue ultimatums like this.”
Kuleba added that no alternative peace plan was discussed at the summit.
