Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton appeared on CNN this weekend with Jake Tapper and made an astute look at Russia and Ukraine.
He said he noticed Putin tended to invade Ukraine only when a Democrat was president, noting that Putin did not do so during Trump’s presidency.
Cotton pointed to Biden’s disastrous troop withdrawal from Afghanistan as one reason and said Putin has since sensed Biden’s weaknesses.

Tom Cotton defends Trump’s stance on Ukraine: ‘Putin would only invade Ukraine if a Democrat was president’
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) defended former President Donald Trump’s stance on Ukraine in an interview over the weekend, arguing that the country would only be invaded if a Democrat was in the White House.
Cotton made the remarks during an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, when asked about Trump’s remarks at the rally: He noted that Ukraine never seemed to stop asking for U.S. assistance in its war with Russia.
“I think it’s important to understand the context of what’s happened in Ukraine over the past decade,” Cotton said. “I note that Vladimir Putin only invaded Ukraine when a Democrat was president. This happened under Barack Obama. This happened under Joe Biden. This happened under Joe Biden. That didn’t happen with Donald Trump.
“In fact, the weapons that Ukraine used to fend off a Russian invasion early in the war were weapons that Donald Trump sent and that Barack Obama and Joe Biden refused to send,” he continued.

Under Trump, the world has become more stable. Democrats and the media claimed that Trump would be a disaster, but it was Biden who plunged the world into chaos.
