In “Like God Created Light Before He Created Light,” The revelations from the previous episode gradually surfaced. Even in Louis’ account of the past, Armand (Assad Zaman) begins to act a little differently before the fire at the Vampire Theater.
Back at the sushi bar for dinner, Molloy discovered that Rasheed was working with Taramasca when he “went to the bathroom” when Raglan (Justin Kirk) showed up to chat with him. Molloy, now worried about Armand’s old passive-aggressive torture methods, tells Raglan he just wants to get out of the interview alive – and he makes a deal with Taramasca to get them some intel during the interview in exchange for his life and actually publishing his book. Back at the lover’s lair, Louis and Armand discuss art, and the former maître d’ begins to detect signs that his lover has become disaffected, but remains vaguely unaware that he now remembers that fateful time spent with the boy Molloy in San Francisco night.
Continuing the interview, the trio continues a chapter in the saga as they try to appease Santiago (Ben Daniels) and give him more power and attention for their next show at the theater. Unbeknownst to Louis, Armand and Claudia, Santiago steals the latter’s diaries and begins passing them on to the coven. This betrayal is so real – it even sucks for us as the audience, because it comes from Claudia’s most trusted vampire. However, that doesn’t seem to be enough for Claudia, and when her shop is attacked again, her friendship with seamstress Madeleine (Roxanne Duran) becomes even closer, and Claudia goes into rage mode, once and for all. She killed her harasser to protect her new friend.
This leads Madeleine to learn the truth and she accepts Claudia, which is what the young vampire has always wanted. She takes Madeleine to her and Louis’ apartment, where Louis confronts them for revealing their identities as they are on thin ice with Armand’s coven. Claudia points out that this could be her way out with her own companion, since he has found a new companion. Louis asks if it’s romantic – Claudia says no and Madeleine says “no” However“, Claudia asks Louis to turn Madeleine. Louis admits that he doesn’t think he should do it because he doesn’t want to pass on more of Leicester’s blood, and suggests that they ask Armand since he is better than theirs Blood is kinder, if only he only knew now, right?
Armand being brought into it, knowing what we know, feels wrong. He does talk to Madeleine and tries to make her understand that because of Claudia’s situation, a young woman’s mind is aging in her body and she is not in this world long. But Madeleine vouched for her, believing that the war-torn world they lived in had aged anyone, whether you were human or immortal – and she was ready to embrace the identity of a vampire, which She showed more courage than Armand. However, he plays the part of the sensitive foreman and refuses to ask her for help, admitting that he has never asked anyone for help and that the idea disgusts him. Eventually, with Claudia’s help, Louis and the two leave the town, and Louis finally understands that they are a better pairing, more powerful than he imagined. Despite his concerns about Lester’s lineage, it was arguably the best thing he could have done for his daughter.
Meanwhile, at the theater, Santiago and Sam argue about the play they are performing. Santiago is not a great leader, Armand and Louis are doing dirty things in the office in a total honeymoon fashion and of course Claudia’s diary tea is spilled everywhere which leads to infighting because Santiago is not A great leader who sows more discord in the tribe. You get the sense that there’s something going on in the chaos, something Louis isn’t aware of – and back in the present, it all fits with the conflicting order of events that Molly is given. Armand tells Molloy that he must make a choice and break with the coven to be with Louise to cover up the pages torn from Claudia’s diary. In the confusion, Armand realizes that Louis remembers San Francisco as he attempts to retract his own narrative with his newfound distrust of Armand’s version of events. Armand gently confirms that deleting Claudia’s diary pages and deleting Louise and Molloy’s memories was to protect them, and that they wanted it that way. But Molloy fights back and berates Armand for taking away his agency – a turn that leaves Louis questioning whether he really did that. did Ask Armand to help him forget.
Everything comes to a head when they recall that fateful night in Paris, where Claudia and Madeleine visited Armand and Louis. It’s a cute and romantic double date, and you can really see Claudia happy and comfortable, a dynamic that’s clearly healthier and more mature than any of Louis’ relationships. Admittedly, as a fan of the book and the changes the show has made so far, I find myself wishing the writers would give Claudia and her companions a way out of their fate – in such a short time, they It has developed so well. They deserve better than Armand’s nonsense, freezing time and having the coven kidnap everyone – including Louis – during their meal and hold them captive for their crimes.
It seems that Armand betrayed those closest to him in order to save himself. In the final minutes of the episode, we’re reminded of an act of cruelty as witches beat and harass their prisoners, while Santiago enjoys it all while preparing for the real show he wants to star in: an act of vampire destruction The basic rules of the trial, and the murder of their master, Lestat de Lioncourt. It was heartbreaking to see, and even more heart-wrenching when the trial’s special guest star – well, star Witness –None other than Lester himself.
Pre-fire trial to begin next week Visit the Vampire.
