The latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll shows former President Donald Trump nearly leads President Joe Biden among likely Iowa voters even after his criminal conviction 20 percentage points.
Fifty percent of likely Iowa voters said they would support Republican presidential candidate Trump if the election were held today, according to a poll released Monday. Incumbent President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election, received the support of 32% of likely voters.
Outside of the two major candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who ran as an independent after defeating Biden to win the Democratic nomination, received the most support. The poll found that 9% of likely voters supported Kennedy, while liberal presidential candidate Chase Oliver received support from 2% of likely voters.
