Wayne Johnson defeated Chuck Hand in the Republican primary runoff to represent Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District and will now seek to unseat the incumbent Democrat in the November general election.
The match was covered by the Associated Press.

Johnson throughout the campaign touted his service in former President Trump’s administration as executive director of the Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid.
Hand, a construction director in rural Butler County who was previously convicted for participating in the Jan. 6 protests, is running on his working-class credentials and focusing his message on the economy. He caused an uproar earlier this month when he walked out of a televised debate with Johnson, accusing him of not living in the area and of plotting an attack on his wife.
Johnson will now face Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop, Jr., who has represented the district since 1993.
