Pornhub will block Indiana and Kentucky next month, the latest in a list of states blocked due to age verification laws.
Texas bids farewell to Pornhub and welcomes the top ten VPNs
Age verification laws have been popping up across the United States in recent years. As experts told Mashable last year, age verification laws don’t work — VPNs are a simple workaround, but requiring users to upload identification leaves them vulnerable to identity theft.
Still, more and more states are enacting these laws. Pornhub and its parent company Aylo (formerly MindGeek) responded by blocking those states from accessing the site entirely.
Mix and match after dark
Pornhub first blocked Utah last year and has since blocked Texas, North Carolina, Montana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Virginia over the laws. Louisiana also passed an age verification law, but as of the time of this article Pornhub is still available there.
Now, Aiello will lock down Indiana and Kentucky in July, according to adult industry publication AVN. The laws that prompted these bans are Indiana’s SB 17 and Kentucky’s HB 278.
Florida could be the next state to face a Pornhub ban; its age verification law, HB 3, is set to take effect in January 2025.
If you happen to be located in one of these states, Mashable has instructions on how to unblock Pornhub using a VPN.
