Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, revealed in the most subtle, understated fashion that he and beat cancer.
The 47-year-old revealed the diagnosis during an episode of “BFFS Pod” when his co-hosts noticed scars on his neck.
Portnoy said he was “beaten” and responded to skin cancer by going “all day without sunscreen.”

Portnoy joked: “I’ve had heart attacks, cancer and bee stings and beat them all.”
Portnoy added: “I went to the doctor, had skin done, they scratched and the cancer came back on one of them; it had to be taken out.”
Portnoy said he’s actually been trying to draw attention to the scars.
“I’ve been trying to shove it in people’s faces,” Portnoy said.
But he did say he kept his actions to himself.

“I didn’t even tell anyone I was doing it. It was all part of my master plan. God forbid [Boston] The Celtics lost last night and I was like, “I have cancer.” I don’t want to mention it anymore. But they won.
Portnoy said he and his Barstool hosts were recording a recap of the Celtics’ NBA Finals victory, but from the video he posted of the celebratory cigar, no one mentioned the scar or bandage on his neck.
“It’s almost like they knew I was going to call myself a cancer survivor,” Portnoy said. “I was getting close to the point where I was going to re-open this thing and start bleeding until someone would say, ‘What happened? Thing? ‘ It’s a huge f— scar and no one says anything.
Then, Portnoy said on X (formerly Twitter)Cancer “isn’t serious about thanking God.”

Portnoy bought back barstool last year, initially selling the company for about $500 million, which he bought for just $1 after the Penn-Espn deal.
