A Los Angeles jury on Monday awarded $900 million in damages in a sexual assault case against the heir to the Coca-Cola bottle fortune, the woman’s lawyer announced.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe in the lawsuit against Alkiviades “Alki” David, claims she was molested and raped over a three-year period from 2016 to 2019, according to her attorney.
“The facts of this case are despicable. He raped my client during another trial,” said her attorney, Gary Dordick.
David’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
Dodik’s company said the jury’s verdict, considered “one of the largest sexual assault verdicts in history,” was just the latest verdict against David. He has lost multiple sexual misconduct cases against him, and he and his businesses have been ordered to pay about $70 million in damages.
David is best known for his company Hologram USA, which produces holograms of deceased celebrities. His corporate portfolio also includes numerous online streaming services.
The woman suing David is a model in her 30s who knew David as a “media mogul and billionaire” when she went to work for him at Hologram USA.
The woman claimed that David’s behavior in the office had been concerning since she was hired. A female co-worker told the woman that David forcibly kissed her, the lawsuit states. In 2016, the accuser claimed David tried to kiss her during a business trip on a private island in Greece, but she turned away and he apologized.
She was fired later that year and didn’t speak to David again until 2018, the lawsuit states. David then offered her a job as a brand ambassador for his cannabis manufacturing company, Swiss-X.
After accepting the job, David invited the woman back to his hotel room, where he gave her a taste of what he said was a CBD product, the lawsuit states. The woman began to feel drunk and disoriented, and then David masturbated and forced her to touch his penis, the lawsuit states.
In April 2019, the woman said David raped her in a small room during a business meeting in the presence of his Doberman pinscher, the lawsuit states.
