The price for Lenovo’s latest Android tablet may seem too public, but it sounds like I’ll want to take it on a trip this summer, too. Lenovo Tab Plus features eight loud speakers for streaming music and movies on the go. The speakers are specifically tuned to work with Dolby Atmos, which is a good trade-off for the other mid-range specs that make up the device.
Lenovo Tab Plus is an Android tablet with an 11.5-inch LCD. It offers a 90hz refresh rate, which is smoother than a regular computer monitor. It runs on a decidedly mid-range MediaTek Helio G99 processor and comes with 8GB of RAM, which is enough for watching movies, streaming music, and playing the occasional mobile game. The Tab Plus also features an expandable Micro SD card slot, which has become more difficult to find on Android devices lately. It has up to 256GB of onboard storage.

The main reason you’ll buy this Android tablet over all the others is that Lenovo packed a lot of speakers into its sub-two-pound chassis. As mentioned, the Lenovo Tab Plus features eight JBL-branded speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos: four matrix tweeters and four force-balanced woofers. There’s also a stand on the back that swivels 175 degrees, so whether you’re listening to podcasts from a distance or want to listen to music softly, you can find your spot.
The Lenovo Tab Plus comes with an 8,600mAh battery, which is standard for tablets in this class. Lenovo says it can be fully charged in 90 minutes, which bodes well for travelers who rely on it for entertainment during long flights. It’s also IP52 waterproof and dustproof, so you can take it into humid environments (like the bathroom) without worrying about it deforming.
A few months ago, I messed with the Lenovo Tab Plus during a meeting with the company. I was impressed by the sound range of the tablet’s external speakers and the color saturation of the LCD display.
If you need more functionality, Lenovo also sells the Tab Pen Plus and a wireless keyboard for the Tab Plus tablet. The $280 Lenovo Tab Plus doesn’t have the specs to help you get work done on the go. But it does have storage space for watching your library of ripped DVDs on the go.
