Tesla has once again issued a physical recall for its Cybertruck. This time, the company recalled 11,688 electric pickup trucks because the windshield wipers malfunctioned, which may reduce the driver’s visibility; it recalled 11,383 Cybertrucks because the truck bed trim parts may come loose and cause damage to others on the road. Danger.
Issues with the giant wipers have cropped up on owner forums in recent weeks, with Cybertruck deliveries reportedly being delayed at short notice. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice for the wipers states that “excessive electrical current may cause the front windshield wiper motor controller to malfunction.” Tesla Service will replace the wiper motor for free.
Regarding decorations, “Tesla Service will apply adhesion promoters and pressure-sensitive tape or replace missing decals free of charge when necessary,” according to a separate notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Last week, ahead of today’s recall, dozens of the polarizing Cybertrucks were spray-painted with the words “Fuck Elon” in black while parked in public parking lots. But at least the guy got paid.
