If you’re looking for a new mattress to help keep the horrors of hot summer nights at bay, try Sleep Cooler with the Purple. Our CNET sleep experts have been testing, reviewing, and recommending the Purple Mattress for a long time—senior producer and sleep writer Owen Poole even slept in one for five years.
When you think of bed-in-a-box brands, you probably think of purple. OG fans may even remember the iconic 2018 Purple Boys ad for Ideal Sleep Solutions and Zonk Strategies, a quirky YouTube video ad we occasionally refer to today.
Purple not only implements a unique marketing strategy, but also has something that no other bed on the market has: a patented super-elastic polymer GelFlex Grid. This gel-like material is cushioning and supportive, supporting your pressure points while keeping your spine and neck aligned.
The GelFlex Grid does not absorb body heat like foam and other materials commonly used in mattresses. While we don’t think it has significant active cooling, its air channels make the bed more breathable and keep your temperature regulated throughout the night.

Rejuvenate Luxe Collection: Mattresses up to $500
You can save $500 on any mattress in the Rejuvenate Luxe line, Purple’s highest-grade bed. This brings the price of the deluxe large Purple Rejuvenate down from $5,495 to $4,995. If you want to buy Purple’s most expensive and highest-quality mattress, the Purple Rejuvenate Premier, you can save up to $800 with the Smart Base. This brings the total bundle price down from $9,390 to $8,590.
Because of the cool quilted comfort cover and double foam layer above the GelFlex Grid in the Rejuvenate Luxe mattress, the softness of the Purple Grid isn’t as noticeable compared to mattresses in the other two ranges – which is probably a good thing Good or bad, depending on your personal preference. If you’re not sure about Purple Grid, you can order a small sample of The Purple Squishy for $3 to get a feel for it.
