Software company Lessen has launched an artificial intelligence interface to further enhance customers’ operations in the property management field, according to a June 25 press release.
Lessen specializes in providing operational solutions to owners and managers of all rental asset classes, from single-family to large multifamily communities. The new artificial intelligence, called Copilot, allows “property managers and their teams across all asset classes and geographies to seamlessly manage the work order lifecycle through an intuitive, conversational interface,” according to the release.
Copilot will focus on expediting work orders through a chat interface that requires simple project input, such as “The windows in unit five on the second floor of Building 10 need to be replaced.” Artificial intelligence will generate work orders and trigger tasks to initiate their completion. Lessen trained it using more than 15 years of maintenance request data and “millions of work orders.”
“We are constantly evolving our technology stack to remove friction and improve the customer experience,” Lessen CEO Jay McKee said in the release. “The launch of Copilot takes things to the next level, providing a virtual assistant that The whole job is to make service management of distributed real estate portfolios easier.”
An interface with this capability offers a range of benefits; reducing manual errors is just the beginning. It centralizes input into a central management experience, maintains consistency in work order input and output, and simplifies linking of file content to internal repositories, ensuring easier tracking of financial records. The co-pilot is also multilingual and able to handle Spanish input.
Artificial intelligence has taken the entire leasing industry by storm, making inroads in areas such as automated rent collection, tenant screening, lease analysis, missed payments and vacancy marketing.
Inman reported on June 21 that Lesen colleague Entrata acquired Colleen AI, an artificial intelligence-based tenant communication tool, Entrata’s second acquisition in the past 12 months. The company plans to launch what it calls “autonomous property management”, which will enable “increasingly automated workflows and more efficient portfolios while delivering an enhanced resident experience”.
Lessen’s Copilot product has been in testing for several months and has received what the company calls “overwhelmingly positive” feedback.
“Initial customers have seen a 20% reduction in the time required to create tickets, with only 1% of conversations requiring manual processing,” the press release states. “In the coming months, the company also plans to expand Copilot to Helping streamline processes across its network of more than 30,000 suppliers.”
Lessen reached “unicorn” status in 2021 after completing a $170 million Series B round of financing, the company’s second major financing of the year. Its Series A round of financing, with a net amount of US$35 million, was led by Fifth Wall.
In January 2023, Lessen acquired SMS Assist, a facilities maintenance technology company with automation operations in retail and commercial office facilities.
