Summer is here, which means it’s time for sunshine and running. The 2024 Summer Games Quick Finish (SGDQ) is an annual charity speed marathon that kicks off on Sunday and runs until July 6. This year’s lineup is once again packed with some of my favorite games, including Balatero, Alan Wake 2, Elden Ring, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1, 2, 3 and 4 (One operation), no faults Baldur’s Gate 3 Running in honor mode, no ships Interstellar pioneering Run (how to run???).
But the run I’m most looking forward to is the Peanut Butter live speedrun, where this Shiba Inu remotely runs the NES game birnessite January’s Awesome Games Done Quick event. At SGDQ, Peanut Butter will be playing live at the event Ken Griffey Jr. introduces Major League Baseball For Super Famicom. Peanut Butter’s goal is to win a game in 30 minutes. The run is scheduled for July 4 at 8:43 pm ET.
SGDQ first run, Yoshi’s story, taking place today at 1 p.m. ET. You can live stream the entire event from the Games Done Quick Twitch channel, and Games Done Quick usually posts event information on their YouTube channel after the event. The event will be broadcast live from Minneapolis to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders.
