A group of Disney California Adventure park visitors may not have had the most incredible time Sunday as they needed to be rescued from an “Incredibles”-themed roller coaster in sweltering heat, according to local media reports.
Passengers became stranded on the Incredicoaster, a roller coaster modeled after the style of the Pixar superhero film “The Incredibles,” around 1:30 p.m., independent news agency OC Hawk reported.
Park staff wearing safety harnesses walked up to the stranded visitors, handed them umbrellas and escorted them off the rides. The temperature in Anaheim reached 86 degrees on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
A park guest who was staying with his family at a nearby hotel and said he had a front-row view of the ride from his room told KNBC-TV that the ride also came to a standstill on Saturday.
“I thought maybe the ride was closed,” Vince Crandon said. “I’m really worried about the hot weather and obviously people… it’s not moving and it’s at the top.”
It’s unclear what caused the ride to stall or how long passengers were trapped, but several videos shared on TikTok show this isn’t the first time passengers have been forced off a ride due to mechanical issues.
Formerly known as the California Scream, the Incredicoaster opened in June 2018 and is 120 feet tall and has a top speed of 55 mph, according to the ride description.
A spokesman for California Adventure could not immediately be reached for comment Monday.
