“These reporters are at best cherry picking scraps of gossip…and at worst making up nonsense.” President Joe Biden’s former speechwriter Dan Crutcher writes that some have openly loathed Biden for years. Den, and is eager for a chance to light up his team.
Krutch wrote:
For what it’s worth—and it probably isn’t—I spent a fair amount of time up close and personal with the president. Before Biden leaves the White House in the fall of ’22. That included dozens of trips, early morning and late night meetings, some pretty grueling days, and more.
… I didn’t see any signs that the performance was going to be as bad as it was last week. I see a president who is focused and sharp – certainly, he has the qualities of an old guy, but definitely that. There wasn’t a moment that worried me. You don’t have to believe me, but if it helps: I swear I will with my life. (2/7)
Granted, I don’t know him as well as countless others do, and I’ve been out of the job for over 20 months. But my first-hand experience is enough to make me (a) very surprised by this debate and (b) think it’s an anomaly. (3/7)
What shocked me most (not the media onslaught, as Trump’s obvious, well-articulated intention to destroy the country remains grossly understated – which I expected) was the dizzying, obsessive group of journalists who took advantage of the moment to… (4/7)
…slandering White House staff as “liars,” “gaslighters,” etc., as if this debate was evidence of some nefarious plan to deceive the country over the years, instead of, you know, this being a very surprising, anomaly Bad night. At best, these reporters are cherry-picking scraps of gossip… (5/7)
…The worst-case scenario is fabrication. Some have openly loathed Biden for years and are eager for a chance to incinerate his team. It’s ugly and wrong — but more seriously, it’s a colossal failure of journalism at a time when America desperately needs journalism to act like adults (6/7)
…and not those petty, nosy Avengers. There are legitimate questions here that the president of the United States must address head on. But if our political media also cannot demonstrate the clarity and ability to do “their” job, then we are doomed either way. (7/7)
This man’s first-hand experience with President Biden is being ignored because “a lot can happen in two years.” While that’s true, it’s also true that our president once had a terrible debate, but by the standards of constitutional experts and by the standards of anyone following the transformative policies he’s enacting, he’s now running the country brilliantly. Furthermore, Biden participated in many events, including this debate, where he discussed his policies in detail and clearly had a grasp of what was going on, while Donald Trump did nothing but accuse Joe Biden of No policies were presented to voters. This is the person who “wins”.
While reporters’ jobs are to inform voters and cover a bad debate, it’s shocking that our media thinks a lying thug won a debate that a tired president just did twice Traveling internationally, he is trying to share his practical policy victories with voters.
Instead, we see a concerted media effort to ignore Trump’s threats to democracy and freedom and cover up their shocking destruction of our founding principles for a conservative-majority Supreme Court. Oddly, they did not ask for Trump’s medical records and cognitive tests, or ask Republicans whether Trump should be removed from office because he is a convicted felon.
An old man who runs the country wholeheartedly, who has a bad debate, is the focus of most of the energy, and an old man who keeps forgetting his words at rallies, makes no sense, cancels interviews after rallies because they won’t give them to him in advance Something went wrong, so it got a free pass.
Trump is also a felon, convicted rapist and liar, accused of inciting a deadly insurrection to cling to power, and is hatching the most sinister plans to transform America into a far-right conservative nation if he wins the election Our Media Doesn’t seem interested.
Of course, the media can cover both presidential candidates with the same level of scrutiny while also conveying the fact that Donald Trump’s history of violent incitement and criminality clearly poses a greater threat than Joe Biden’s poor debates, Therefore it deserves more attention.
