It’s the end of an era for the Golden State Warriors.
After spending 13 seasons in the Bay Area and winning four NBA championships, Klay Thompson recently agreed to a three-year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Golden State Warriors selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Washington State University, and he became a great player for the Warriors.

One day, Thompson’s number may well hang in the rafters of Chase Center. He was a key contributor on all four championship teams, cementing himself as one of the best shooters of all time.
On Friday night, Thompson posted a message to the Warriors and their fan base, thanking them for giving me “the best time of my life.”
“Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to express how I truly feel about you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for giving me the best years of my life. I am honored to be able to say these words.” From the bottom of my heart. Wearing a Warriors jersey from day one,” Thompson wrote on Instagram, along with a photo from his first press conference with the team.

“I really just want to do whatever I can to help bring as many championships to the area as possible. The best part isn’t the ring, though, it’s the friendships I’ve made that will last a lifetime. My family and I will I want to thank all the people who have worked tirelessly to make the Warriors a world-class team, and don’t be sad that this is over, be happy that this is happening.
This is Thompson’s first time as a free agent. Despite playing the most games since the 2018-19 season, his 17.9 points per game were his lowest since the 2012-13 season.
Stephen Curry and Thompson are called Splash Brothers, One of the greatest shooting combinations in NBA history, and the hardware speaks for itself.
Curry is now the longest-tenured player in the league, while Thompson has moved on.

Thompson made 2,481 three-pointers, ranking sixth all-time. He’ll never catch Curry, but he should pass Reggie Miller (fifth, 2,560) and possibly Ray Allen (second, 2,973). Two active players (James Harden and Damian Lillard) are ahead of him.
