Siri will reportedly finally get better in the spring of 2025, when Apple will make the Apple Intelligence AI system available to everyone via the iOS 18.4 update BloombergMark Gurman’s latest work Open communication. That’s more specific than Apple — so far, it’s only said flagship AI features will launch next year.
Apple regularly releases new features into its operating system in piecemeal, partial updates. For example, it’s possible for Siri to do things on your behalf (via Apple Intelligence) like dig up your ID from your photo library and copy your driver’s license number into an online library of 20,000 photos. But maybe AI-driven emoji generation or writing assistance isn’t ready yet. Gurman doesn’t address this directly, but it’s good to keep it in mind.
As iOS 18 betas begin integrating these features later this year and version 18.4 approaches, it should become clearer what will be released first. At the same time, features such as ChatGPT integration, a new Siri interface (which ditches the old circular shape and a pulsing rainbow appears inside the screen border), and deeper product knowledge that allows Siri to provide you with basic technical support are expected to be Launching this fall.
In the future, Apple’s AI plans apparently include those AirPods with embedded cameras that have appeared in rumors from time to time, such as last week’s rumor from supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that they will be equipped with infrared sensors and work in conjunction with the Vision Pro Used together for gesture and motion detection. Gurman described something similar to Meta’s Ray-Bans – for example, artificial intelligence could process images from them to describe things in your environment or help you navigate while walking. He wrote that these new AirPods Pro may be two generations away.
