If there’s an argument for the king staying out of the war, it’s Aegon II Targaryen’s (Tom Green-Carney) feeble attempt to do something useful in the war. Dragon House Season 2 Episode 4.
Desperate to be taken seriously, the King mounts his dragon Samphire and flies off to try to assist Hand of the King Kristen Cole (Fabian Frankel) and his army in an attempt to attack Rook’s resting place.
These two conversations in the third episode of “House of the Dragon” season 2 are the key to the entire show.
Final Results? The king is soon possessed by Rhaenys (Eve Best) who rides the dragon Meraxes, while his brother Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) fiercely attacks the giant Vhagar, burning them both, knocked the king from the sky.
We can have a separate discussion about whether Aemond tried to kill Aegon and who could become ruler if he no longer held office. But before that, the most important question is: Is Aegon really dead?
Did Aegon die at the end of Episode 4?
Well, let’s look at the evidence. Not only did the king receive a face of fire from Vhagar, but he was also thrown far from the sky. The last time we see him, right at the end of the episode, he’s lying on his back in a small forest clearing next to Sanfield.
Popular stories that can be mixed and matched
The problem is we only get a glimpse of his body, not long enough to know for sure whether he’s dead or just unconscious. The only things we have to go on are a) his dragons, and b) the reactions of the people who find him.
The first thing to note is Sunfyre no dead. Of course, it hurt badly. But he was still breathing very clearly, which meant the fall itself wasn’t enough to kill him. This certainly doesn’t prove that the fall wasn’t enough to kill the king, but perhaps it suggests that their landing was somewhat buffered by the trees.
Next up are Eamond and Christon. As Christen walked into the clearing at the end of the battle, Aemond drew his sword and strode purposefully towards the king’s fallen body – meaning, of course, that he was planning to have certainly The king is dead. He is interrupted by the arrival of Cole, but when the Prime Minister sees the king’s body, he falls to his knees, his face completely shattered.
in conclusion? The king is either dead or dying. Aegon believes that the dragon survives and Aemond draws his sword possible Still have to persist in life. But Cole’s horrified expression suggested he was either dead or dying. We’ll have to wait for episode five to find out what it is.
