Nowadays, studios have been bringing old superhero actors back to reprise their original roles. This is especially true for Marvel, with its multiverse lore and sweet nostalgia power. Now that Daredevil and Kingpin can appear in new MCU episodes and be played by their Netflix castmates, that means anyone can come back, right? This is exactly what Finn Jones wants from his character Iron Fist.
If Jones gets his way, he’ll once again don Danny Rand’s yellow hood. Speaking to Dutch media The Nerd Shepard at Heroes Netherlands Comic Con, he talked about a point in his career where he “hoped to continue to grow with Tekken.” But instead of asking for a third season iron fist, He’d rather be a dynamic duo with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. The relationship between the two is harmonious enough Defenders Danny appears as a guest star Luke’s second season. To Jones, working with Colter to bring their characters back together Heroes for Hire It’s smart to show and be best friends in comics.
“I would love to see the chemistry between me and Mike again,” he continued. “I think these characters could tell a lot of great stories if they brought me and Mike back to do a Heroes for Hire TV series, I think that would be the way to go. Unlike Charlie Cox, Jones doesn’t seem to be shying away or dropping hints about possible appearances in upcoming projects: He told Nerd Outlet that he has “no expectations” for the entertainment industry as a whole. Between COVID-19 and the Hollywood strike, he believes it’s “impossible to have expectations for this industry.”
There’s a problem, though: in the comics, the current Iron Fist is a teenager named Lin Lie, who has held the position since 2022. It’s like a soft launch before he eventually appears in a live-action movie. He and Danny aren’t in each other’s orbit like that, and while that can always change, it might be a while before Marvel puts Iron Fist at the forefront, especially with Chi being out there and having a bigger of franchise potential.
Will Jones and Danny Rand have a place in the Marvel Universe like Daredevil and the Punisher? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
