At WWDC in June this year, Apple announced a smarter, AI-enhanced version of Siri, but a new report says users won’t be able to use it on their devices until 2025.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new Siri will be launched next spring as part of the iOS 18.4 upgrade, with beta testing for developers beginning in January 2025.
Apple Intelligence, Apple’s broader set of artificial intelligence capabilities announced for iPhone and iPad, will launch with iPhone 16 and iOS 18 this fall. Mistakes, remembering previous conversations, wrapping up meetings, all have to wait.
Mix and match speed of light
Gurman said that the artificial intelligence function Siri will launch this fall is the integration with OpenAI’s intelligent assistant ChatGPT.

Gurman also laid out Apple’s plans for the Apple Watch, including adding displays to new models, which we’ve previously reported . He also said that Apple is looking to update its low-cost watch, the Apple Watch SE. The company is reportedly considering replacing the watch’s aluminum casing with hard plastic, possibly to reduce manufacturing costs. The company has done this before with the iPhone, when it launched the iPhone 5c, a device with a polycarbonate (rather than aluminum) casing, although that device didn’t sell particularly well.
