Asus plans to support Microsoft’s new dynamic lighting feature, which allows Windows 11 users to control the motherboard’s RGB lighting without the need for a separate app. ASUS has started testing a new beta BIOS update for its AMD 600 and Intel 700 series motherboards, which includes dynamic lighting support.
Microsoft added dynamic lighting to Windows 11 in September, providing native RGB lighting control within Windows for the first time. This feature allows users to control RGB lights using the open HID LampArray standard, and manufacturers such as Acer, Asus, HP, HyperX, Logitech, Razer and Twinkly have partnered with Microsoft to provide support.
Dynamic lighting support on ASUS’s latest motherboards requires a BIOS update, which will be available in the coming weeks. There are now beta versions for AMD and Intel motherboards on the ASUS forums, but I don’t recommend flashing the beta BIOS unless you are willing to revert to an older BIOS version if you encounter a bug.
Once your ASUS motherboard supports dynamic lighting, you can manage brightness, color, and effects in the Settings section of Windows 11. controls in. This also means you don’t have to use third-party RGB controller software such as OpenRGB unless you need the extra functionality it provides.
