Multi-hyphenate genius Donald Glover just released his new single “Lithonia,” and he can add another accomplishment to his resume: a major collaboration with TikTok. Okay, so it’s not necessarily the same as the winning series Atlantabut Glover teamed up with TikTokker @Jordan_The_Stallion8 for a video joking that many people seemed to think they looked alike.
If you’re not familiar with Glover, where have you been? He is a film and television star, an accomplished musician (nicknamed “Childish Gambino”), and a talented writer and creator. If you’re not familiar with “Stallion Jordan,” his real name is Jordan Howlett, which makes it easier to understand. But he’s a hugely popular TikTokker, known for his trending comments, making people aware of food “secrets” and rants in front of the bathroom mirror.
People seem to think the two look similar. I didn’t see it, but the fact that the TikTok was on Howlett’s account has gotten about 11 million views.
Popular stories that can be mixed and matched
TikTok itself is fun. First, Glover copied Howlett’s signature style, and then the two appeared on screen wearing the same outfit. The video contains some funny jokes, such as “Growing Up Gambino” and Glover expressing regret at people asking him for ridiculous recipes. This is a fun TikTok, and one that has apparently gone viral.
However, this just goes to show how powerful the TikTok platform is. Consider the fact that a big Hollywood star is teaming up with a popular TikTokker to make a joke. Of course, this may have a lot to do with Glover currently promoting his upcoming album, Bando Stone and the New Worldbut promoting the album on TikTok is as powerful a tool as anything else.
