All eyes are on President Biden as his debate performance and subsequent media appearances heighten concerns about his age and mental health. While the president remains steadfast in his bid for re-election, lawmakers are demanding greater transparency from the White House on Biden’s health.
However, one of Biden’s biographers has revealed that the White House has an “obsessive” desire to control the narrative about the president and his health.
“The DNA of this White House is controlling the narrative,” President Biden biographer Chris Whipple said Thursday on “America’s Newsroom.”
“It’s something they’ve always done well, something they’ve been obsessed with, I think too much about it. I think they should, they should let Biden be Biden more, but they’re very protective.”

During Biden’s presidency, his administration has faced criticism for its handling of the president’s media and public appearances. Recent events, including documents guiding Biden on the fundraising podium, have raised more concerns about a lack of transparency from the White House.
While the White House has been working to assist the president’s public image, a growing number of voices have raised concerns about Biden’s health and even called for him to withdraw following his debate defeat.
“I think even some of Joe Biden’s family and inner circle were shocked by that night,” Whipple said.
An ABC News/Washington Post poll showed that 67% of respondents said Biden should withdraw from the race, and 85% said he was too old to be re-elected.
Polls show overwhelming majority of Democrats say Biden must step aside even if race against Trump is close
Among Democrats and voters who say they lean Democratic, 62% say Biden needs to drop out of the race. Even among self-described Biden supporters, 54% say he needs to withdraw.
Nine House Democrats have called on Biden to drop out of the 2024 race since his poor debate performance late last month, according to an Associated Press count.
Despite pushback, President Biden confirmed his commitment to run for re-election, which Whipple said was what he expected.

“I thought Biden was going to run for reelection. It’s a funny reason,” Whipple said.
“The thing that’s most shocking to Joe Biden during his presidency is the staying power of Trump, the staying power of MAGA… He believes, I really think he believes, that he’s the one to defeat him.”
