Former first lady Melania Trump sent a powerful message to the American people on Sunday, just hours after her husband, the Republican presidential nominee, was nearly assassinated.
In a statement issued to X, Mrs. Trump noted that animosity between both sides of the political spectrum has reached a breaking point and that “the fabric of our country is in tatters.”
Still, she remained optimistic about the prospects and said the United States would persevere.
“Let us not forget that different opinions, policies and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural and life commitments – until death – are at serious risk,” she said. “Political concepts are simple compared to us humans.”
“Let us remember that as we look beyond left and right, beyond red and blue, we all come from passionate families and we all passionately strive for a better life while we are in this earthly world. .
Melania encouraged the American people to “go beyond hatred, vitriol and simple ideas that spark violence.”

Melania calls out Donald Trump
Melania has consistently noted in her statements that her husband, former President Donald Trump, is a human being first and foremost.
She almost lost her husband and the father of her children that day.
“As I watched the violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized that my life and Barron’s life were on the verge of devastating change,” Mrs. Trump wrote.
She refers to the failed and now dead assassin as a “monster.”
Melania wrote: “A monster who viewed my husband as a dehumanizing political machine sought to inspire Donald’s passion — his laughter, his intelligence, his love of music and his inspiration.”

Tragedy barely avoided
Former President Trump was the target of an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, allegedly by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
The incident occurred at the Butler Farm Show, where Crooks fired multiple shots into the stage, with one of the bullets tearing off Trump’s ear and injuring him.
One attendee at the rally, Corey Comperatore, died while protecting his wife and daughter from bullets. He died a true hero.
Two others were seriously injured.
After the Secret Service spectacularly failed to capture the gunman on the roof of a building just 130 meters away from Trump – despite the crowd pointing out him – the former president committed one of the most American, violent and violent actions this country has ever captured on film. One of the most patriotic and courageous responses.
“Fight!” he kept shouting, blood dripping down his face.
I was shot multiple times in combat. Trump’s reaction was to stop, stand up, with blood on his face, say wait, then look at the crowd, raise his fists, and yell “Fight,” which was an unreal/unbelievable reaction. This cannot be taught and is true. Pure badass 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/rPjpF5RuCb

It’s shocking that this tragedy was so narrowly avoided. Purely out of will and luck, not because of the Secret Service. Melania Trump almost lost her husband that day. The American people almost lost an icon.
“I’m thinking of you, my fellow Americans,” she wrote. “The winds of change have arrived. To those who are crying in support, I am grateful.
“I commend those of you who rise above political differences — and thank you for remembering that every politician is a man or woman with a loving family.”
