MSNBC didn’t air “Morning Joe” Monday morning because they were concerned someone on the show would criticize Trump.
CNN reports:
The decision was made to avoid a situation in which one of the show’s more than two dozen guests could make inappropriate comments on live television that could be used to attack the show, a person familiar with the matter told CNN. And the network as a whole. The person said that given the breaking news nature of the story, it made more sense to continue rolling out breaking news coverage during a contentious political moment.
An NBCUniversal News Group spokesperson said in a statement to CNN, “Given the seriousness and complexity of this unfolding story, NBC News, NBC News NOW and MSNBC have been reporting breaking news stories on a rolling basis since Saturday night.” As we continue to cover this story this week, the networks will continue to cross-simulcast, rotating between NBC News, NBC News NOW and ‘MSNBC Reports’ so there is one news source reporting on this developing situation.
MSNBC has censored one of their most-watched flagship shows because they don’t want Donald Trump to receive any criticism right now.
Sarah Jones and I just launched a podcast talking about corporate media and the false brand of progress they use to deceive their audiences, when all the corporate networks care about is profit.
Listen to the podcast:
No corporate news entity, whether it’s MSNBC, CNN or Fox News, has a political opinion. They only care about profit. Any political views they claim to espouse are nothing more than branding.
Book Monday is the perfect opportunity to talk about Donald Trump’s history of violent rhetoric and calls to violence. Morning Joe could have discussed the role the Republican Party plays in sowing partisan divisions and calling for violence.
MSNBC, by contrast, had nothing. Corporate media is failing democracy, and MSNBC’s decision to cancel “Morning Joe” is a textbook example of what their priorities really are.
