Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy says he hopes the young woman facing Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) gets the justice she deserves as he provides details about Gaetz and his resignation motion.
McCarthy’s videos:
“You know, he seemed very unhinged,” McCarthy told CNN’s Manu Raju. “I mean, a lot of people were concerned about him, and I’m not sure if he was. is onto something, but I do hope he gets the help he needs but more importantly, I hope young women get the justice they deserve on him.
McCarthy wasn’t done yet, “People are going to jail. Women have proven it. He came to me. If I still wanted to be a speaker, I could do something illegal and stop the Ethics Commission investigation that started four years ago; That’s what this whole evacuation motion is about, and he thinks I started this investigation in some way long before I, as you know, I was a member of Congress. Not getting involved in the ethics issue, that’s the same amount. They can investigate me. So he wants to use me to try to do that, and if I don’t do that, he’s going to file a motion to resign.
The Kevin McCarthy/Matt Gaetz issues are far from over. McCarthy has long said Gaetz wants him out of the ethics investigation. Gaetz worries about the ethics committee because not only could they expel him from the House, but their investigation could also lead to criminal charges.
Kevin McCarthy is a terrible Speaker of the House, but he will probably hate Gaetz until his last breath for costing him the Speakership.
Even at so-called Republican “unity conventions,” chaos and disorder are always bubbling beneath the surface.
