Donald Trump showed that nothing has changed, using people who died at rallies as stage props and spouting nonsense about old grievances in his nomination acceptance speech.
Trump turned his retelling of the assassination attempt into a “Saturday Night Live” sketch:
Trump is the only person who can make an assassination attempt sound like a Saturday Night Live sketch. Trump thinks he’s a great storyteller, but that’s ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/wv5GZCIoPv

Trump used the uniform of a MAGA firefighter who was shot at a rally as a prop:

Trump even admitted he was trying to buy votes in Wisconsin:

The speech was filled with Trump’s usual grievances, vague promises and delusional language. It has the props and all the gimmicks that Trump has relied on for nearly a decade.
What the speech lacked was energy. Trump is like the second sequel in a movie series. The first one was a hit, and the loyal fans are as loyal as ever, but the whole thing is just tired and boring.
There was nothing in the speech that suggested Trump was capable of learning anything or gaining any insights from the assassination attempt. Trump spent nearly 30 minutes of his speech trying to use the assassination attempt to help his campaign.
Donald Trump hasn’t changed at all. He is equally dangerous, equally extreme, and even less fit to be president in 2024.
