Friends and family gathered Friday morning to mourn Corey Comperatore, the father and firefighter who was shot and killed at a Trump rally on July 13. At his funeral, locals The streets leading to the Competore Church line the streets in memory of the fallen “hero”.
Competore, 50, was shot and killed in an assassination attempt on the former president in Butler, Pennsylvania, at around 6:11 p.m.
“My son was a firefighter with Corey for many years. He was a great mentor to him. He’s a great guy,” Sylvia Lowry told Fox News Digital on Friday. “Of course, we’re all sad. Great family…we just pray he rests in peace.”
She went on to describe Competore as “quiet,” a “family man” and a “kind soul.”

Jeanne Fox, who works with Comperatore’s wife Helen, described the volunteer firefighter as a “great dad” and, specifically, a good “girl dad” to his two daughters.

A service was held for Comperatore on Friday at the Cabot United Methodist Church between Safer and Cabot, where local residents sat in lawn chairs, waved American flags and watched from dozens of Pennsylvania towns. A parade of fire trucks, ambulances and motorcycles.
Katie Fuhrman, whose uncle married Competore’s mother, said she knew him “when he was little.”
“I haven’t seen him in a long time, but I know he’s an amazing man, husband, father and son. From the stories I’ve heard from family, he’s an interesting guy. He’s a family man. Man. I love him so much.

Trump honored fallen firefighters at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday night, displaying Competore’s firefighting jacket and helmet on stage.

Two other men, David “Jack” Deutch and James Copenhaver, were seriously injured in the assassination attempt on Trump. Currently, they are receiving treatment in the hospital and are in stable condition.
Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the assassination attempt on Comperatore by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Crooks.
