Competore, 50, was shot and killed in an assassination attempt on the former president in Butler, Pennsylvania, at around 6:11 p.m.
“My son was a firefighter with Corey for many years. He was a great mentor to him. He’s a great guy,” Sylvia Lowry told Fox News Digital on Friday. “Of course, we’re all sad. Great family…we just pray he rests in peace.”
She went on to describe Competore as “quiet,” a “family man” and a “kind soul.”

Jeanne Fox, who works with Comperatore’s wife Helen, described the volunteer firefighter as a “great dad” and, specifically, a good “girl dad” to his two daughters.

Two other men, David “Jack” Deutch and James Copenhaver, were seriously injured in the assassination attempt on Trump. Currently, they are receiving treatment in the hospital and are in stable condition.
Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the assassination attempt on Comperatore by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Crooks.
