X is developing a new tool that will allow users to block links in replies, which could help reduce spam.
X flirts with dislike and downvote features again
Engadget noted that the new tool first appeared online through a post by independent app researcher Nima Owji, who has discovered such unreleased features in the past.
Owji simply posted: “X is working on a feature that will allow you to disable links in post replies!” Owji provided a screenshot of the tool that may be coming soon.

The feature seems simple. It’s just a checkbox to check to disable the link in the reply. This may help block accounts with popular posts filled with spammy links, often to questionable products. Others post links intentionally to try to mislead you. So blocking responses with links will definitely help.
Christopher Stanley, Senior Director of Security Engineering at X, posted a response about the feature, confirming that the feature is real and that his team built the tool.

Soon you’ll be able to post a silly joke without worrying about weird links in your replies. X (formerly Twitter) has had a lot of bad changes lately, but maybe this could be a useful tool.
