On Monday, Joe Biden officially dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Kamala Harris.
Biden’s sudden decision to withdraw from the race came not through a press conference or an official White House press release, but through X post from Biden’s X account, which included a letter without the official presidential seal.
Joe Biden’s announcement that he is withdrawing from the 2024 race caught Biden’s campaign staff completely off guard.
“None of us understand what happened,” a staffer told Politico. “We all found out through tweets.”
Shortly after Biden’s announcement letter was released, multiple reporters noticed that the signature in Biden’s announcement letter did not match Biden’s official signature.
According to Wikipedia, journalist Dr. Naomi Wolf compared Biden’s official signature to the most recent signature on his withdrawal letter.

Here’s a comparison of Biden’s archived signature on Wikipedia and his signature on the withdrawal announcement letter:

Biden’s signature on his recent executive order also differs from his signature on his withdrawal letter.
The following is Biden’s signature on Executive Order 14124 signed on July 17, 2024:
Now let’s compare this again with the signature on his resignation letter:
Biden’s signature on his executive order includes “Jr.” And there is no bottom line underneath his name.
Can anyone find another example of Joe Biden emphasizing his signature? https://t.co/7xUq6yITJY pic.twitter.com/Jt7dmPgDJp

this point is very important. Five identical signatures appeared to be signed with an automatic pen (an actual item used by the president), while the signature on the resignation letter was different. Well done to whoever created this. https://t.co/tkEzMezXlo

Even as vice president, Biden never put his signature directly under his own name.

That leaves one important question: Has Joe Biden signed the letter announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race?
Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman made an interesting point about Biden’s exit announcement:
One might have thought that a letter from the president to the American people announcing his decision to step down would not have used a digital signature, but instead would have been accompanied by a group photo and a subsequent scheduled morning meeting.
Instead, we posted a digitally signed letter on the President’s X account, which we know is run by a staffer, with no photos and no immediate speech to the American people.
If I were China, I would invade Taiwan tomorrow.
