Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) made two very important points after news broke that President Joe Biden was abandoning his re-election bid. One was an apparent call for his resignation.
Biden announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing from the race amid continued pressure from party insiders. He later expressed support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Serving as your president has been the greatest honor of my life,” Biden said in a statement posted on social media.
“While I intend to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interests of my party and the country that I resign and focus on my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” he said.
One can’t help but wonder how bad it was for Biden to make a statement on social media about a major exit decision at such a late stage.
Biden did say he would address the nation about his decision later this week.

Greene points out election is not about Biden, never has been
Greene responded to the news on X by making two astute observations. First, Donald Trump and the Republican Party have never campaigned against Biden as a person.
They have been fighting against those who actually run the country behind the scenes. This movement needs to be defeated in November.
“President Trump was never running against Joe Biden,” she wrote. “He has been campaigning against the damage that Democrats and their policies are doing to America.”
“Kamala. Michelle Clinton. It doesn’t matter who they choose,” Green added. “The year 2024 is open borders versus secure borders. Globalism versus nationalism. Collapsed economies versus strong economies.
In this line of thinking, Biden is nothing more than a tool for progressives seeking to destroy the country.

Green calls for Biden to resign
Green then pointed out the obvious. How can President Biden run the country if he is too cognitively disabled to run for re-election?
“If Joe Biden can’t run for reelection because he’s not mentally healthy (you know, that’s why the Democrats and their billionaire oligarchs are forcing him out), then he must resign immediately,” she said.
The National Review editorial board is once again calling for Joe Biden to resign.
“Biden should take the next logical step and resign as president,” the editorial board wrote.
“It’s conceivable that a president could be unable to run for office but still be able to perform his official duties — if, say, he suffered a serious physical impairment,” the column continued. “It’s even conceivable that a president could serve another six months but not another four and a half years.”
“But that doesn’t apply to Biden.”
It is clear to everyone with eyes and ears that the president is unfit to govern. But should Biden resign?
Next up is Kamala. You know, the one who had to drop out of the Democratic primary because Biden passed her by. The Democrats don’t have a deep bench here.
