Authorities, family members and other loved ones continued the search Tuesday for 15-year-old Monterey Park girl Alison Jillian Chao, who disappeared after leaving her home on a bicycle nearly a week ago.
Here’s everything we know so far about the investigation.
Where did she disappear?
At 5:32 p.m. on July 16, Allison left her home in the 200 block of North Ines Avenue in Monterey Park. A missing persons investigation was launched at 36:00.
Video shows her last known location was in the 4400 block of Collis Avenue in El Sereno around 6:23 p.m., police said.
Where is she going and what does she look like?
Allison’s family told KTLA that Allison was riding a blue mountain bike to her aunt’s house near San Gabriel.
The journey was supposed to take 20 minutes, but Alison’s aunt called her father around 8pm to tell him she never arrived.
She was wearing a purple T-shirt, black shorts, dark shoes and a black backpack when she disappeared.
What did her family say?
Allison’s mother, Annie Chao, released a statement on Instagram on Monday asking the public to continue looking for footage of the area near where Allison disappeared and share it with Monterey Park police.
After Allison’s father reported his daughter missing, Chao learned about his daughter’s disappearance from the police. Allison was scheduled to be taken to Elaine Chao’s home Wednesday morning.
“I will continue to work with the police and community to find Allison while doing my best to protect her privacy,” Cao wrote. “Please remember, Alison is still a child. I ask that you do not speculate, attack, or post anything that will not help in finding her.
What did the police say?
Monterey Park police told KTLA they are working with Allison’s family to interview potential witnesses and review surveillance video.
Since Alison’s family asked for the public’s help in locating her, they have paused the investigation following tips received.
