Former President Donald Trump vented his anger at Vice President Harris in Charlotte, North Carolina, calling her the “new victim of failure.”
Trump repeatedly mispronounced Harris’s name, Kamala, while describing her as more radical than Biden and “a threat to democracy.”
“When I was shot, something happened to me,” he said at a rally Wednesday night. “I became nice. When you deal with these people, they are very dangerous people. You can’t be nice. You really can’t be so, so if you don’t mind, I won’t be nice – okay ?
The crowd cheered. They chanted: “Fight. Fight. Fight,” a rallying cry that echoed in his case after a failed assassination attempt.
Harris did not shy away from his attacks. In her first major speech as a possible nominee on Tuesday, Harris touted her background as a prosecutor and said that experience would come in handy against Trump.
“I’ve dealt with all kinds of criminals — predators who abuse women, scammers who rip off consumers, con men who bend the rules for personal gain,” she said in Wisconsin. “So listen to me, I know Donald ·The Trump type.”
On Wednesday, Trump responded. He is not friendly at all.
He went on to call her “lying Kamala Harris” and “the most incompetent, left-wing vice president in American history” in a very personal way.
He told supporters she was “a radical, crazy person” on issues like gun rights and abortion.
“Everything you do is terrible,” he said, as if addressing her directly. “You’re an extreme liberal. We don’t want you here. We don’t want you anywhere. Kamala. You’re fired.
It was Trump’s first rally since President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and his second since the attempt on his life.
The visit also reflects Trump’s emphasis on North Carolina, a state he has won twice. However, the margin was so small in 2020 that Democrats saw an opportunity to win and campaigned heavily in the state.
