Deezer appoints Alexis Lanternier as its new chief executive.
Lanternier will take over as interim CEO Stu Bergen France-based music streaming service, effective September 2, 2024.
Bergen will remain on Deezer’s board of directors. Bergen was named interim CEO in March following the departure of former CEO Jeronimo Folgueira.
Lanternier will be based at Deezer headquarters in Paris, working closely with the Board of Directors and the Deezer leadership team.
Deezer said the appointment will “enable Deezer to deliver continued profitable growth and innovation in the evolving music streaming industry.”
Diesel Alexis Lanternier describes him as “an experienced entrepreneur and seasoned executive with a passion for building digital consumer goods platforms in Europe, Asia and North America over the past 14 years.”
Most recently, he co-founded and developed Branded, a consumer products company. Prior to that, Lanternier served as executive vice president of e-commerce for Walmart Canada, where he “led the establishment of a multi-billion-dollar online grocery business,” Deezer said.
At the same time, from 2014 to 2019, he held increasingly important positions in e-commerce platforms under Alibaba Group Lace up In Southeast Asia.
Deezer said that as CEO of Lazada Singapore, Lanternier “driven the company to achieve significant market leadership by successfully guiding his team to implement a 360-degree strategy.”
During his tenure as CEO, Lazada acquired online grocery startup Redmart and launched LiveUp loyalty subscriptions, including content partnerships with Netflix and Uber.
Lanternier began his career as an engagement leader at Boston Consulting Group in France and the United States, specializing in “large-scale transformation initiatives,” and later held various category management roles at Amazon in media and apparel.
