A Democrat running for statewide office has nominated Kamala Harris as the vice presidential nominee and made scathing comments as his star continues to rise.
Pennsylvania Democratic Treasurer nominee Erin McClelland took to Twitter on Tuesday night to accuse Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro of sexism and covering up sexual harassment, while inferring that he is too conceited, according to the New York Post. Not a good fit to be Harris’ assistant.
She later endorsed another Democrat, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.
McClelland wrote: “I want a vice presidential candidate who is safe enough to finish second behind a woman, who is content to be vice president, who doesn’t undermine the president’s rigging of his own election, and who doesn’t cover up sexual harassment issues. “
“I want someone who can speak to rural voters. That’s @RoyCooperNC,” she added.

While McClelland did not detail in her tweet how Shapiro covered up sexual harassment, the Philadelphia Inquirer said she was referring to a disturbing incident that occurred in Shapiro’s office last year.
The scandal involves a woman who accused her boss, Shapiro legislative liaison Mike Vereb, of sexual harassment. Shapiro’s office later tried to settle the matter with her for $295,000.
But Vereb, a close friend of Shapiro’s for decades, refused to resign from the Cabinet until months after receiving internal complaints, the Inquirer reported.
McClelland detailed her concerns with Shapiro as Harris’ potential running mate to The Washington Post on Friday.
“If I were in her (Harris’s) shoes, I would think very strongly about the difficulties that some women experience in reaching senior positions while the men around them have to be content with being second, third or responsible for one person. Woman,” she said.
The Washington Post pointed out that McClelland’s harsh words were in sharp contrast to other Pennsylvania Democrats, who enthusiastically supported Shapiro for vice president and in the process angered the state Democratic Party Chairman Sharif Street.
“Look, everyone is entitled to their opinion,” Street said at a news conference in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
“But let me tell you, I was offended by this article,” he added. “I am personally offended and will be having a conversation with our treasurer nominee individually.”
Despite her concerns about Shapiro, McClelland told The Washington Post that she would still support Harris no matter who she picks as vice president. So much for standing up for principles and standing up for women’s rights.
If Harris does choose Shapiro, every Democrat should forever remain silent about President Trump’s treatment of women unless they praise him.
