“I hope that at the end of my two-year term, I will be able to look back and say that some stability and calm has returned to our organization and our industry,” the NAR president said. Kevin Sears he told hundreds of onlookers during his first public appearance at the Inman Connect event.
In front of an audience that holds strong or differing opinions about the role of NAR and its benefits to dues-paying members, Sears aimed to provide transparency and share his accomplishments since being named president of the organization six months ago. The anticipation and nervousness are palpable.
“I think a lot of people feel like you haven’t done the job,” the host said. Clelia Warburg Peters Two minutes after the on-stage interview began, the audience burst into cheers and warm applause.
“The job is to represent real estate,” Sears said in response to Peters’ question. “I’ve been on the road and talking to members. God willing, I will be president for two years.
“The last 12 to 18 months have been very volatile,” he added.
This week, the Inman Connect Las Vegas stage provides a can’t-miss platform for everyone from reality TV stars to portal warriors to industry titans and even presidential candidates. It also handed out awards and announced a new location for next summer’s event – San Diego.
