Shannon Owen lost her husband, Deputy Sheriff Josh Owen, in May when he was shot and killed during what appeared to be a routine call at an apartment complex.
Josh was a member of the National Guard and deployed overseas. He was also a devoted husband and father.
After he was killed, his widow didn’t want Gov. Tim Walz to attend the funeral, and who could blame her? In an interview, she insisted it has nothing to do with Democrats and Republicans, but she just doesn’t like people who disrespect law enforcement officers.
The left has spent years demonizing people like her late husband.

Shannon admitted that because of all the changes, the couple discussed Josh’s future in law enforcement.
“He’s worried that he’s going to do something wrong and end up in jail, and that’s how a lot of people feel. They feel like if they cross the line even a little bit, they’re going to go to jail. We have to be able to protect our law enforcement and our citizens. We can’t stop everything they can do. These things,” she added.
Shannon told Gov. Tim Walz last month not to attend Josh’s funeral. We asked her to explain the decision in her own words.
“It has nothing to do with whether he’s a Republican or a Democrat. I hope that’s made clear. It has to do with a lot of the laws they’re changing for police officers. If they want to stay or not want to stay, or if they want to continue to be police officers, because they Not being able to protect yourself, that’s changing a lot of people’s minds that in situations like this, whether it’s drugs or mental health, they need to address these problematic situations and protect themselves,” she said.
“I’m not trying to be rude or anything. It’s just that I don’t appreciate people who don’t support law enforcement. No matter who you are, don’t show up to the funeral,” she continued.

Democrats like Tim Walz have normalized the targeting of law enforcement officers. Ms. Owen graciously emphasized that her feelings had nothing to do with Democrats or Republicans, but we all know which party has a target on the backs of our men and women in blue.
