One of the top-ranked playmakers in the 2025 class is now off the board.
Sax (Texas) four-star wide receiver Kalik Lockett announced Wednesday afternoon that he has committed to Texas.
Lockett is also ranked No. 65 by Rivals250 and the No. 12 wide receiver and No. 11 prospect in the state of Texas.
The 6-foot-2, 172-pound wide receiver joins a Texas class that currently has 17 prospects signed. The addition of HI moves the Longhorns from the 20th-ranked class to the 13th-ranked class in the 2025 cycle. They are now ranked 8th in the SEC.
The Longhorns definitely added a freak to their wide receiver room. Lockett, who stands about 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, has some of the most impressive weight in the 2025 class. He has huge 10.25-inch hands that can basically be used as gloves to swallow footballs. He also has 33.5-inch arms and a 6-foot-7 wingspan. Lockett has the best ball skills among playmakers this season, and these measurements make it easy to see why.
Played since his freshman season, but finally broke out with a monster season as a junior, recording 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns on 59 catches.
His route definitely needs some development at the next level, but he has proven his speed and separation ability in short yards. No problem outrunning defenders and almost impossible to compete with in jump ball situations. If his speed and route running are up to par, his pure catching ability will give him a chance to play early in Austin.
