Min), Victor (Elliot Page) and Honorary Hargreave Si Leela (Ritu Arya) is trying to save the world this season — yes, again.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Review: A Crazy Victory Lap
The show explores some of the show’s biggest mysteries – though it leaves most of them open – the most prominent of which is what really happened to Ben all those years ago. So where do we leave the Hargreaves?
We’re about to get a deep dive into how the final episode ends The Umbrella Academy, So be prepared for extreme spoilers.
what will happen in the end The Umbrella Academy?
Poor Ben and Jen.

What No Does it happen at the end?
At the end of episode five, Gene and Gene, who is actually the alien Reginald’s alien wife Abigail (Lisa Rabo-Martell), reveal that she has been wearing a suit. · Grossman (played by David Cross), like a suit now wearing Jean, keep up), called to start the Guardians’ main plan. This is to ensure that the apocalyptic event known as “The Purge” occurs. In the finale, this call comes in the form of a broadcast from Muse’s “Problem Map,” and the group’s followers descend into armed mob-like ranks. The Guardians gather in a shabby department store where apocalyptic souls and lovers Ben and Jennifer (Victoria Savar) have been taken over by “The Purge”, actually an oozing virus that threatens them, and subsequently enveloped the entire world.
Remember, we learned this season that Ben and Jennifer were actually murdered by Reginald in the original timeline, filmed when Ben rescued Jennifer from a cage as a teenager— —Is it accurate for Reginald to say that he tried to prevent the combustible bond between them that would destroy the world (cruel but kind)? But he meddled with their memories so they would never know.
We also learn that Abigail foiled all of Reginald’s plans to separate Ben and Jennifer in order to achieve the Purification and destroy everything Reginald had created.
Victor tried it!

Meanwhile, in one of the season’s biggest curveballs, Lila and Five fell in love during their seven-year journey across the subway system, returned to the real timeline, and let’s face it – it’s all about Diego and Lila Christmas at home (let’s be honest, Luther, Allison, and Klaus are all us on the couch in this scene).
Back to the big storyline, Victor attempts to use his powers to extract Marigold to save Ben and Jennifer (more on that below), but before he can finish, Ben is shot dead by Reginald’s sniper. Therefore, the Umbrella Academy must work together to fight the Ben/Jen monster, but they eventually retreat to Hargreeves Manor.
What’s going on with the five-person scene in Max’s Deli?
During the battle with Ben/Jen Cleanse, Lila made it clear to Five that “it’s over.” So he returns to the subway alone and spends his days either traveling aimlessly or returning to the strawberry greenhouse where he and Lila spent their happiest times. leads to an underground restaurant called Max’s Delicatessen, which is filled with different versions of Five from different timelines, and they all end up entering the deli to try to solve the problem as Five is now.
While talking to himself over a pastrami sandwich and a sip of coffee, Five realizes that there should only be one timeline after all, and the only thing breaking that original timeline is… The Umbrella Academy itself.

The Umbrella Academy breaks the original timeline (guyyyys!)
That cruel insult “I wish you had never been born”? Excellent…
Yes, the Hargreeves brothers caused apocalypse and saved the world multiple times over four seasons, and their creation broke the original timeline. Five discovers within herself that their births – remember, 43 women gave birth simultaneously around the world on October 1, 1989 – begin an endless cycle in which they attempt to save the world while simultaneously becoming the cause of its destruction .
“Family is the problem. We’re doomed to save or destroy the world over and over again, never ending,” Five realized as she looked around at the pictures of apocalypses past in the deli.
“Family is the problem. We are doomed to save or destroy the world over and over again, ad infinitum.”
Five imparted this knowledge to his siblings, who gathered at the original Hargreeves Manor, where he explained the multiverse to all of them.
“We are the reason why this happened,” Five said. “The marigold that infected our mother and gave birth to us had an unexpected side effect. It broke the timeline and shattered it into countless alternative timelines. These timelines are bleeding into each other.”
The Five explain that this is how the Guardians found artifacts (Umbrella Academy merchandise, press clippings, paraphernalia from the first three seasons), which made them realize that multiple timelines existed and began their cult – which, again, they are ……Is it right?
“So we need to go back to the original timeline before the other timelines were created,” Five explained. how? The Umbrella Academy needs to get the Marigold in them to merge with the Durango in Jane/Ben’s Purge Monster.
Wait, what exactly are marigolds and durango?
That glowing substance Ben spiked everyone’s drinks at the Teppanyaki restaurant in Episodes 1 and 2? The stuff that restores their talents? That was Marigold, the particle that gave the Hargreaves their powers. All the women who gave birth to the Hargreaves siblings were infected with the virus and then passed it on to their babies. Durango is another particle that lives inside Jennifer, and the physical reaction between Ben’s marigold and Jen’s Durango creates the “purified” monster.
So, in order to undo the Purge, save the world, and prevent the extinction of humanity, the Hargreeves make a decision – they need to destroy the monster by fusing Marigold with the Durango within. The idea is that “they should cancel each other out.” But it also erases them.
Why did The Umbrella Academy know their sacrifice could save their loved ones?
In the finale, the Hargreaves have not just each other to worry about, but also Diego and Lila and their families, as well as Alison and her daughter Grace. They’re unsure if their loved ones will be safe in the timeline, but Victor remembers a vision he had while trying to save Ben, showing a park where their family (sans the Hargreeves siblings) was Live happily there. So, did they succeed?
In a heartbreaking scene, Lila sends her family and Grace on a train back to the original timeline and stays to ensure that The Umbrella Academy’s sacrifice doesn’t erase the children’s existence.
Are the Hargreaves brothers dead? The Umbrella Academy ending?
If you never existed in the first place, would that be death?

By sacrificing themselves for the Purification, the Hargreeves ceased to exist at all. In fact, they never did – everything we just saw, did. gone. “We will wipe it from history,” Five explains, saying that no one in other timelines will remember them.
As the purifying liquid oozes into Hargreaves Manor, the family gathers in a circle, lights marigolds, prepares to be devoured, and says some pretty hilarious nonsense to each other. Alison sincerely said to Victor “I’m sorry you left Canada for this” and I gave him an 11/10.
“Fuck you” is literally the last thing anyone says to each other. And it’s perfect.
Then, in the final scene, we see Victor in the park where basically every character from the show’s four seasons is having a great time, just like Tommy James and the Shondells’ original “I “Guess we’re all alone now,” the iconic song from The Umbrella Academy’s first season. Even Season 2’s Swedish Assassin is here! Of course, thanks to Lila’s train transport, all of Hargreaves’ loved ones are here too.
So, yes, the Hargreeves are dead, but because of their sacrifice, they were never actually born in what is now the original and only timeline.
Essentially, The Umbrella Academy doesn’t exist. Okay, I’m going to look at the wall now.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.
