There has long been an overlap between heavy metal fans and the works of JRR Tolkien; Lord of the Rings Providing direct inspiration for Black Sabbath, Rush, Led Zeppelin and many other bands. Series from Prime Video The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power Wholeheartedly committed to that connection, a new video showcases a refreshing track from the upcoming second season.
Check out songwriter Bear McCreary excitedly talking about “The Ballad of Damrod,” an anthem for Hill-Troll (you can’t get a more metal tune than this) and sung by legendary drummer Gene Hoglan Cymbals incorporating the late, great Rush drummer Neil Peart were put into his kit as part of the recording process.
The Ballad of Damrod also features the vocal stylings of Meshuggah’s Jens Kidman, who hails from Sweden but clearly has Middle-Earth in his blood.

The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power Season 2 will be available on Prime Video on August 29.
