Big 12 recruiting: Analyzing QB commitments
Quarterback is not only the most important position in football, but perhaps in sports as well. So, it’s only natural that college football fans would be interested in recruiting for this position.
With fall camps starting across the country and the season quickly approaching, let’s take a look at where each team stands in the recruiting department at the position.
Here are all the quarterback commits for each of the 16 Big 12 programs.
Arizona
The only program in the Big 12 that plays multiple positions at quarterback. While both are rated as three-star prospects, this is a quality duo. Robert McDaniel proved his quality in the Elite 11 finals, coming on as a last-minute substitute. However, he had a solid pro day performance. In his junior season, McDaniel passed for 2,839 yards and 33 touchdowns, but was intercepted only four times.
At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, Hauge brings additional size to the position. He is a multi-sport athlete and also plays basketball. There are no exact statistics. He holds offers from Oregon, Utah, Arizona and other states.
Arizona
Tollefson is a four-star recruit who has been committed to Arizona State for more than a year. The Cal quarterback has had some up-and-down seasons and is looking to make his senior season the best yet. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder didn’t have a full stat line as a junior, but he threw for 1,567 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore. He also added 644 yards and nine touchdowns.
baylor
Griffin was a late bloomer who found his groove this offseason and ended up at Baylor. As a third-year player, he was a first-year starter and finished with 2,920 yards and 39 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Good size, 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, very accurate with the ball.
Baylor has assembled a very strong group of skill players in the 2025 class, and Griffin is a great help throwing passes to them. He could be a candidate to stock this fall.
Brigham Young University
Keeney played in only seven games during his junior season but threw for 2,460 yards and 28 touchdowns. His passing success rate is as high as 73%. Build a huge offseason with offers from BYU, University of Houston, San Diego State, Boise State, Utah State and more.
Houston
Austin Carlisle is another reserve prospect this fall who finally stepped into the spotlight this offseason and locked himself in with the local Houston Cougars, his mother’s alma mater. Carlisle has had two great seasons, racking up 5,187 yards and 52 touchdowns.
He has a lot of players on Ridge Point’s lineup and is able to spread the ball around on a massive scale. He hopes to help Houston reach the next level in its early push into the Big 12 Conference.
Iowa
Mansk is a signal caller and his arms and legs will hurt you. As a junior, he passed for 1,787 yards, rushed for 701 yards and scored 29 total touchdowns. He’s 6-foot-2, 204 pounds and has good size and athleticism.
Manske is one of the Elite 11 finalists. He started out hot, but his speed and effort caught up with him in the first half of his pro day. He slowed down as he walked, his arms starting to lose use. Some of his strongest pitches of the day came from center field as he threw catchable balls.
kansas
I saw McComb this offseason at the Elite 11 Regionals and liked what I saw from him. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, he has a long frame and is on target all day long. He had a strong junior season with over 3,000 yards and 29 touchdowns.
He also posed a real threat with his legs and ran for 520 yards.
kansas
Duff, who was Kansas State’s first player of the cycle, drew some comparisons to the Wildcats’ soon-to-be starter Avery Johnson. In his first year as a starter, as a junior, he totaled 2,458 yards and scored 23 touchdowns.
Duff also had offers from Minnesota, Nebraska, Missouri and others.
TCCU
Schaubel was heavily recruited, which resulted in him committing to three different schools. First at Baylor University, he later retired and transferred to Oklahoma State University. After a few months with the Cowboys, he transferred to TCU, where his father and uncle both played.
During his junior season, the 6-foot-5, 200-pound thrower threw for 2,405 yards and 30 touchdowns against just four interceptions.
Texas Tech University
One of the top quarterbacks in Texas, the Red Raiders are adding another quarterback who is good at putting up big numbers. Jones, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect, threw for 2,735 yards and 36 touchdowns while also passing for 655 yards and 13 more touchdowns.
Jones has been committed to Texas Tech since November.
Utah
The Sierra Canyon standout from Chatsworth, Calif., completed 66 percent of his passes for 2,423 yards, 29 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a rushing score as a junior. 4 times.
Last November, he ultimately chose Utah after accepting offers from Georgia, Florida, Miami, Mississippi, Oregon, Penn State and others.
west virginia
Fox has had a very productive prep career so far, throwing for 4,810 yards and 52 touchdowns. He also added 271 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.
“It’s been a loaded year for Ohio State’s quarterback, who is committed to West Virginia, so coach Neal Brown and his staff should be given a huge amount of credit for getting Fox out of Ohio State. .
