According to the latest poll reported by Rasmussen, Donald Trump leads Kamala Harris by 5 percentage points, 49 to 44.
Polls have been going around for weeks suggesting that the historic Democratic shift between Biden and Harris has not yet fully clicked with many people across the country, although Rasmussen is fairly consistent.
At this point, all polls should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
Newsmax has details:
Rasmussen poll: Trump leads Harris by 5 points
Former President Donald Trump leads Vice President Kamala Harris 49% to 44% in the 2024 presidential race, according to the latest Rasmussen poll released Thursday (Kamala Harris).
Other candidates received 4% of the vote, while 3% said they were undecided.
The survey polled 1,794 likely voters on Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-7. It has a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.
The poll comes two days after Harris named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate against Trump and his No. 2 Ohio Sen. Vance.
The two vice presidential candidates will also have the opportunity to face off in near real time, as Walz will travel to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada with Harris this week, while Vance will follow the overlapping Itinerary, in some places.

Breitbart News’ John Nolte made an important point about the latest round of polls:
The latest poll does not take into account revelations about the questionable service record of Democratic vice presidential candidate Gov. Tim Walz (Minnesota). Veterans who served with Walz in the Minnesota National Guard are making credible accusations of bravery against the Democratic Minnesota governor.
Waltz has repeatedly claimed that he participated in “the war.” He didn’t. When his troops were warned that they would be drafted into Iraq, Walz suddenly decided to retire and run for Congress. On Wednesday, the Minnesota National Guard also confirmed that Walz’s official resume exaggerated his rank.
Next weekend’s polls should reflect new revelations about Tim Walz and his stolen courage. It will be interesting to see what impact he has on Harris’ campaign.
