Ben Stokes was carried off with a parking injury on his hundredth match for the Northern Superchargers against the Manchester Originals.
Stokes was clutching his left hamstring before being substituted, a sight England fans didn’t want to see just ten days before the start of the Test series against Sri Lanka.
Supercharged captain Harry Brooke takes over as England Test captain.
This appears to be the latest injury issue for Stokes following long-term knee problems and hip discomfort.
As the Superchargers chased down a target of 153, Stokes faced just four deliveries while running from the non-striker’s end before falling to the ground clutching his hamstring.
He was then taken off the field. Stokes then appeared on crutches at the end of the game.
“This is a problem. This is a real problem,” said sky sports cricket Reviewed by Michael Atherton.
“It doesn’t look good.
“He’s in really good shape this year. If you talk to him, he’s fit, he’s lean, he’s been bowling.
“I think the way he scratched it was his hamstring and not his knee. It looks like it’s completely gone and it’s a big moment in the season.
“For England, he brings the team together as captain and all-rounder.”
Superchargers captain Brook confirmed that Stokes’ injury doesn’t look good and he will undergo a scan on Monday.
The Superchargers kept their hopes alive with a resounding win, with Nicholas Pooran emerging as the hero as he smashed 66 runs from 33 balls, including eight sixes and two fours ball.
