Bonix completed 15 of 21 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown to help the Denver Broncos beat the host Indianapolis Colts 34-30 in Sunday’s preseason opener.
Quarterback Jarrett Stidham racked up 37 yards on Denver’s first two carries and an interception before the Knicks took over for the remainder of the first half and into the third quarter. The first-round draft pick led the Broncos (1-0) with four scoring drives, including one on a one-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Mims Jr. in the second quarter. He also ran three times for 17 yards.
Broncos’ third quarterback Zach Wilson went 10-of-13 for 117 yards. Odric Estime ran for 31 yards and was one of Denver’s three rushing touchdowns.
Anthony Richardson led Indianapolis on two short drives to start the game, then let four quarterbacks loose. Richardson went 2-for-4 for 25 yards and added 1 yard rushing. Star running back Jonathan Taylor started and rushed twice for 4 yards for the Colts (0-1).
The Colts’ Micah Abraham returned Estime’s 45-yard fumble for a touchdown.
Rams 13, Cowboys 12
Stetson Bennett found Miller Forristall for a 6-yard touchdown with 4 seconds left in the fourth quarter to help Los Angeles beat Dallas in Inglewood, California.
In addition to the game-winning touchdown pass, Bennett had a rough day and was sacked four times. He completed 24 of 38 passes for 224 yards. Jordan Whittington had six catches for 74 yards for the Rams (1-0).
The Cowboys (0-1) took a 12-6 lead after fourth-quarter field goals from 38 and 52 yards by Brandon Aubrey. Trey Lance, who completed 25 of 41 passes for 188 yards, was also Dallas’ leading rusher (six carries, 44 yards).
