Donald Trump, the world’s most famous weirdo, has made many ridiculous claims over the years. But the 78-year-old’s latest social media rant may be his strangest yet. Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social on Sunday to claim that Kamala Harris faked large crowds at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, on August 7. In fact, Trump said the crowd photos were created using artificial intelligence technology, and he has absolutely crazy screenshots to prove it.
“Did anyone notice that Kamala was cheated on at the airport?” Trump wrote on Sunday. “There was no one on the plane and she ‘AI’d it and showed a large group of so-called followers who didn’t exist! When a maintenance worker at the airport noticed the fake crowd photo, she was handed She was there, but no one was there, as was later confirmed by the mirror reflection on the Vice President’s plane.
Trump continues to insist that all of these alleged frauds will lead to fraudulent vote counting during the November presidential election.
“She is a liar,” Trump wrote. “No one was waiting for her, the ‘crowd’ looked like 10,000 people! The same thing happened with the fake ‘crowd’ during her speech. This is how Democrats win elections by cheating — and they do even worse at the ballot box.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the 2020 election was stolen, a claim that has been repeatedly proven false in court. And then Trump talked through all these conspiracy theories about what he really wanted to see happen. In Trump’s view, Harris shouldn’t even be running because of the false images she allegedly created of her crowd.
“She should be disqualified because creating a false image is election interference. Anyone who does this is cheating!” Trump wrote.
Trump continued to promote conspiracy theories in several posts, bizarrely insisting that Harris had used artificial intelligence to create a swarm of people. But of course, Trump himself didn’t invent conspiracy theories. Tweets about the theory have been circulating online in recent days and have been viewed millions of times, with Trump even including a screenshot of the tweet below to prove his point.
X user Chuck Callesto falsely claimed in an Aug. 10 tweet: “Breaking Report: Harris campaign’s use of fake crowd photos at campaign rally stops failed.”

Even pointing out that the Harris rally in Detroit was real and that the crowd wasn’t created with artificial intelligence feels ridiculous. But it’s real and not made with artificial intelligence. There are countless photos and videos of the event, all showing huge crowds.
For example, the photo below was taken by photographer Demetrius Freeman for The Washington Post and distributed by Getty Images. The enthusiastic crowd held signs for Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. And there is no indication that any content of the image has been tampered with.
Another photo taken by a different photographer from a different angle at the same event also demonstrates the large crowds in Detroit, as shown below.
In another example, PBS Newshour broadcast live on YouTube, clearly showing the same large crowds visible in photos circulating on sites like X and Truth Social.
Why is it that Trump launches this absolutely insane attack while Harris doesn’t actually draw large crowds? First, Trump is obsessed with the size of his crowds and uses them as an indicator of a politician’s popularity. The fact that Harris drew larger crowds than his neo-fascist rallies was personally devastating to him.
But more importantly, Trump fears losing the presidential race with Joe Biden dropping out. Trump doesn’t know how to attack Harris effectively and has been spouting nonsense in recent weeks. Poll after poll shows Harris with a slight lead in several battleground states that Biden lost, including Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. The latest New York Times poll over the weekend showed Harris winning each of the three states by 4 percentage points. The Democratic National Convention has not yet begun, which traditionally would give the party a slight boost in the polls given all the attention.
Trump is scheduled to host an audio discussion with Elon Musk on X on Monday at 8 p.m. ET. This is sure to be one of the craziest experiences on the platform in a while. Given that this nonsense “AI Harris Crowd” conspiracy theory started at X, it will certainly be interesting to see if Trump brings up the idea that Harris is using computers to fake her crowd.
Ironically, Trump sometimes uses artificial intelligence on social media. Remember when Trump shared an artificial intelligence photo of himself kneeling in prayer? As the saying goes, every accusation these guys make is a confession.
